Leviticus 14:39-40 On the seventh day the priest shall return to inspect the house. If the mold has spread on the walls, he is to order that the contaminated stones be torn out and thrown into an unclean place outside the town.
As I continue to slog through Leviticus, what I am hearing again and again is this idea that you don’t jump to snap judgments–you wait, you watch, you scrape off the outer layer and re-plaster, you wait and watch some more.
Leviticus 14:41 He must have all the inside walls of the house scraped and the material that is scraped off dumped into an unclean place outside the town.
That, to me, reads a lot like “Don’t immediately give up on people. Don’t count them as worthless or too far gone when there is still breath and hope.” Perhaps it is my relentless positivity (NOT toxic, mind you), but I don’t think God gives up on any of us. Ever.
Leviticus 14:42 Then they are to take other stones to replace these and take new clay and plaster the house.
Precious Savior, Thank You for knowing our value and worth. Thank You for wanting a relationship with us because You know we will be the better for it. Help us to love each other as You love us. Help us, Jesus. Amen.
Leviticus 14:43-44 “If the defiling mold reappears in the house after the stones have been torn out and the house scraped and plastered, the priest is to go and examine it and, if the mold has spread in the house, it is a persistent defiling mold; the house is unclean.
