OUR way vs THE way…. (devo reflection)

Leviticus 14:32 These are the regulations for anyone who has a defiling skin disease and who cannot afford the regular offerings for their cleansing.

Reading verse 32 brought to mind the fact that so many Christians believe that there is only one way, one path to God. They take Isaiah 30:21 literally: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”

Leviticus 14:33-35 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “When you enter the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your possession, and I put a spreading mold in a house in that land, the owner of the house must go and tell the priest, ‘I have seen something that looks like a defiling mold in my house.’

Yet verse 32 hints at something we see many times in the Bible–there is more than one way but only one God. So if you have this defiling skin condition, here is what you do. And if after seven days, this is what you do. All these things can lead to the one true God because “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jer 29:13).

Leviticus 14:36 The priest is to order the house to be emptied before he goes in to examine the mold, so that nothing in the house will be pronounced unclean. After this the priest is to go in and inspect the house.

Precious Savior, Thank You for the profound truth that there are many paths that can lead us to You, and as long as we get there, we gain the hope of heaven. Forgive us when we think that OUR way is THE way. Help us to help each other to the foot of Your cross. Help us, Jesus. Amen.

Leviticus 14:37-38 He is to examine the mold on the walls, and if it has greenish or reddish depressions that appear to be deeper than the surface of the wall, the priest shall go out the doorway of the house and close it up for seven days.

Have a blessed day.
