Trying to “make it better”…. (devo reflection)

Leviticus 16:32 The priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his father as high priest is to make atonement. He is to put on the sacred linen garments

The last sentence of today’s scripture stands out to me: “And it was done, as the Lord commanded Moses.” I love the Lord, and I try to do as He guides, but I am the world’s worst for trying to anticipate and control and “make it better.” Ridiculous, I know.

Leviticus 16:33 and make atonement for the Most Holy Place, for the tent of meeting and the altar, and for the priests and all the members of the community.

I am thankful that God knows my heart, and I routinely pray the prayer of the father in Mark 9:24, “…I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Leviticus 16:34a “This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: Atonement is to be made once a year for all the sins of the Israelites.”

Precious Savior, My attempts to anticipate and control are to try to be helpful, but I’m afraid they might speak to unbelief, implying I trust You, but…. Help me to act as Your hands and feet, as Your heart, in total belief that You are the sovereign God. That is who *I* say You are. Help me overcome any unbelief. Amen.

Leviticus 16:34b And it was done, as the Lord commanded Moses.

Have a blessed day.
