On light and hope…. (devo reflection)

Exodus 37:18 Six branches extended from the sides of the lampstand—three on one side and three on the other.

Today’s scripture has me thinking about light and darkness and how completely even the smallest light can disrupt even the deepest darkness. Don’t believe me? Look at a small blue pinprick of light in the middle of the night in a dark room–that tiny light casts an incredible glow.

Exodus 37:19 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms were on one branch, three on the next branch and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand.

John 1:5 says “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” That light is God. Even in the darkest night, God’s presence, His power, His goodness overcomes the darkness, obliterates it. And His light gives us hope.

Exodus 37:20 And on the lampstand were four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms.

Precious Savior, Thank You for helping me to understand the power of light and hope. Thank You for the knowledge that You are the light in the darkness, always, that You will keep the darkness from overcoming us, that even a small ray of Your light, Your hope, is all it takes. Help me to always hold on to Your Hope. Amen.

Exodus 37:21 One bud was under the first pair of branches extending from the lampstand, a second bud under the second pair, and a third bud under the third pair—six branches in all.

Have a blessed day.
