Love is all you need…. (devo reflection)

Leviticus 19:33-34 “ ‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

Verses 33-34 have me pondering the current political climate, specifically the actions of ICE agents. It has me trying to get back to the heart of God’s word and what He wants us to take from His word. It has me thinking about 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Leviticus 19:35 “ ‘Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight or quantity.

Love God. Love others. Love ourselves–because we are tasked with loving our neighbors as we love ourselves (Matt 22:37-39). And why is love the greatest of these? Perhaps because, in the end, when everything else is said and done and we are preparing to shuffle off this mortal coil, nothing physical will go with us, and all that we will have for comfort in those last moments is the memory of love–love we gave, love we shared, love we received.

Leviticus 19:36 Use honest scales and honest weights, an honest ephah and an honest hin. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt.

Precious Savior, It is so incredibly easy to get caught up in all the little things of this world, but when I step back and take a comprehensive view, it really boils down to love: Love You. Love myself (which can be hard at times). Love others–ALL others. Help me to fulfill this goal. Amen.

Leviticus 19:37 “ ‘Keep all my decrees and all my laws and follow them. I am the Lord.’ ”

Have a blessed day.
