Leviticus 7:35 This is the portion of the food offerings presented to the Lord that were allotted to Aaron and his sons on the day they were presented to serve the Lord as priests.
All the sacrificial offerings in this section have me thinking about the books of Matthew and Luke and of Jesus’s declaration of the greatest and second greatest commandments: Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-40).
Leviticus 7:36 On the day they were anointed, the Lord commanded that the Israelites give this to them as their perpetual share for the generations to come.
In Luke 10:25-37, we have the parable of the Good Samaritan and the reminder that a neighbor is one who has mercy on others and we are to go and do likewise. All the rules and regulations have their place and their significance, but we are called to show love and mercy always.
Leviticus 7:37 These, then, are the regulations for the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering and the fellowship offering,
Precious Savior, You know I need both the big picture (show love and mercy to all) and the fine details (all these specific sacrificial offerings, the tabernacle descriptions, etc). Thank You for helping me wade through Your word and for drawing me closer in the process. Amen.
Leviticus 7:38 which the Lord gave Moses at Mount Sinai in the Desert of Sinai on the day he commanded the Israelites to bring their offerings to the Lord.
