Exodus 22:24 My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.
Verse 24 is connected to verse 22, about not taking advantage of the widowed or fatherless. Verse 27 is tied to these verses as well: “When they cry out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.”
Exodus 22:25 “If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest.
There is a lot that I do not understand, but I know with certainty that God hears us when we cry out to Him, whatever the reason. He hears and He does not turn a deaf ear to our pain. Why we don’t always see His response to our cry, I’m not sure. He’s not too busy. He’s not ignoring us. Maybe some day I’ll understand, but for now I cling to the fact that He hears our cries because He is compassionate.
Exodus 22:26 If you take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, return it by sunset,
Compassionate Savior, Thank You that You hear us when we cry out to You. Always. Help us to cling to the fact that You promised to never leave us nor forsake us, that You are with us always, that You hear us and love us beyond measure. You are working, making a way, even if we cannot yet perceive it. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
Exodus 22:27 because that cloak is the only covering your neighbor has. What else can they sleep in? When they cry out to me, I will hear, for I am compassionate.
Have a blessed day.
