Isaiah 30:15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.”
Monday’s reflection about spiritual toddlerhood comes vividly to mind as I read Isaiah 30:15. God wants His people to rest in Him, to trust in Him. He knows that is the only way we can ever find rest and peace. When I struggle, determined to do it on my own because I am a strong, independent woman, I am choosing to have none of His peace. Talk about making poor choices.
Isaiah 30:18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Yet even when I turn my back, determined to do it alone in the strength God gave me, He still longs to be gracious to me, He will rise up to show me compassion.
Isaiah 30:19 People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you.
Lord, Forgive me for my pride, even if the intent—to show that You *did* create me as an independent woman—is misguidedly for You. Thank You for the invitation to return to You and rest. Help me to set aside my pride, my fears, anything that separates me from You and return to Your peace with my whole heart. Grant me Your rest. Please, Jesus. Amen.
Isaiah 30:20 Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.
Have a blessed day
