Romans 8:22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
I am a big fan of a “sure thing.” I’m what you might call risk-averse. Maybe it’s the planner in me. If something is risky, it’s hard to plan accordingly. If something is a sure thing, the planning is pretty easy.
Romans 8:23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
But today I am reminded that “hope that is seen is no hope at all.” If I am so determined to live a risk-free life (as much as possible), I am limiting how my Savior can move in my life. I am limiting the glory that He can reveal in me, through me.
Romans 8:24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?
Precious Savior, Forgive me that my desire for a low-risk life limits the ways You can show up and show out for me and in me. I don’t want risk, but I do want You–my Rock, my Refuge. Help me to not put limits on You. Help me to hope and trust in You alone. Amen.
Romans 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
Have a blessed day.
