Micah 7:4a The best of them is like a brier, the most upright worse than a thorn hedge.
As a child, I struggled with the idea that I was supposed to love God first and most, more than even my family. I wondered how I could love God more than my parents or more than my siblings. As an adult, I get it.
Micah 7:4b The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.
We are to love God first because He created us and those we love. He is the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and the end. He knit us together in our mothers’ wombs. He knew us before we were born. He created, shaped, loved, us and every single person we hold dear. He holds those who have gone before securely in the palm of His hands. He holds us securely, too.
Micah 7:5a Do not trust a neighbor; put no confidence in a friend.
Precious Savior, Thank You for the wisdom that You have given me over the years of reading and studying and living. Thank You that You knew me before I was born, that You knit me together, that You love every single person whom I love more than I am even capable of loving. Thank You that You are the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and the end. Thank You that You hold us all securely in the palm of Your hands. Amen.
Micah 7:5b Even with the woman who lies in your embrace guard the words of your lips.
Have a blessed day.
