Genesis 18:5 Let me get you something to eat, so you can be refreshed and then go on your way—now that you have come to your servant.” “Very well,” they answered, “do as you say.”
Did Abraham and Sarah know they were entertaining holy beings? Would their reaction have been the same had these been three random people off the road? Would it have made a difference? The Bible is full of verses about showing hospitality to others, always.
Genesis 18:6 So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah. “Quick,” he said, “get three seahs of the finest flour and knead it and bake some bread.”
How well do *I* do in the area of showing hospitality to others, especially those who show up unexpectedly? I can say that I am better than I was, but I definitely have a lot left to learn in that area as well. Help me, Jesus.
Genesis 18:7 Then he ran to the herd and selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant, who hurried to prepare it.
Precious Savior, As we walk each other home along life’s path, help me to seek to show hospitality always. Help me not to worry about whether I have enough because I have You, and You will supply all my needs. Help me to act selflessly, shining Your light as I help others along their way. Amen.
Genesis 18:8 He then brought some curds and milk and the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them. While they ate, he stood near them under a tree.
Have a blessed day.
