Psalm 90:12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
On my fridge is a countdown calendar, reminding us how many days before the hubs and my oldest hit the trail. The main purpose of the countdown is to keep us all focused so that everything that needs to be done before they leave can get done. But as I numbered the days on the calendar, Psalm 90:12 came to mind and I’ve been pondering the implications.
Psalm 90:4 For You, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours.
I have no idea how many days I will have on this earth, and quite truthfully, I do not want to know. What I want is to see each day as the gift it is, an opportunity to honor my God and Savior with my words, actions, and resources. What I want is the gnawing fear that has become such a fixture in my life to be gone so that I can honor God today, not worrying about everything that could go wrong.
Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us each morning with Your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
Lord, Thank You for this day and these verses. I love You with all that I am and all that I have. I want to honor You with this day You have given me. Break the chains of my fears and anxieties, Lord. Help me to bring You honor and glory with all I say and do today. Help me to make today count. Draw me closer. Amen.
Psalm 90:17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us….
Have a blessed day.
