In the face of overwhelming obstacles…. (devo reflection)

Mark 5:27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His cloak….
This woman had been suffering for twelve YEARS. Let that soak in a moment. Verse 26 says, “She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.” Can you imagine the anger and frustration she must have felt? All those years, all that money, all that suffering, and all you feel is worse? How horrible. How hopeless.
Mark 5:28 ….because she thought, “If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed.”
Yet she doesn’t give up hope. In fact, she clings to that hope, goes after it, not in a “Well, I certainly don’t have anything to lose” way, but in a “If I can just touch His clothes, I will be healed” way. Would my faith, my hope, be that strong, that resilient, in the face if twelve years of suffering? Please, Lord Jesus.
Mark 5:33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at His feet and, trembling with fear, told Him the whole truth.
Lord, Thank You for this day and for the reminder that our faith and hope in Your Sovereignty and Your power are crucial to Your ability to work in our lives. Help us, even in the face of overwhelming obstacles, to trust in Your fierce love and steadfast presence. Help us to reach for You, no matter life’s trials. Welcome us as Your children. Grant us Your peace and healing. Draw us closer. Amen.
Mark 5:34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free from your suffering.”
Have a blessed day.
