Luke 8:43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.
This passage gives me chills. Not only does this woman’s bleeding, twelve years of bleeding, stop immediately when she touches the edge of Jesus’s cloak, but also, in a crowd as large as this, with so many people, Jesus KNEW that someone had touched His cloak. He FELT the healing power go out from Him.
Luke 8:44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.
Read that last line again: He FELT the healing power go out from Him. It’s not that he just felt a shove or a tug or a push in this throng of people. He felt “that power has gone out” from Him. Maybe that shouldn’t astound me so, but it does. And if I were the woman who touched His cloak, I’d probably be afraid right about now, but Jesus will not put her to shame. Stay tuned.
Luke 8:45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
Precious Savior, Thank You for this brief story that illustrates so much–the power of our faith, the compassion of Your spirit, what can happen when we overcome our fear, doubt, dismay, and boldly touch the edge of Your cloak. Thank You. Amen.
Luke 8:46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
Have a blessed day.
