Exodus 6:10-11 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.”
Commentary says about this section that Moses was ready to give up after the first setback, but God was building endurance in him through those setbacks. That put me in mind of all the times in 30 years of teaching that I said in my heart, “Lord, open any other door and I will walk through it” because I was sooooo frustrated, exhausted, disgusted, etc.
Exodus 6:12 But Moses said to the Lord, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?”
Here’s what I have learned: That God WILL work in our wilderness, that He IS at work even before we can perceive it, that He IS making a way, even when we are still mourning in the ashes. Sometimes He sends us in a new direction. Sometimes He tells us to keep moving forward one painful step at a time, but there is never a time when He leaves us to fend for ourselves. He is with us. Always.
Exodus 6:13 Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.
Precious Savior, Thank You for Your promises, for Your wisdom, for Your fierce love and compassionate grace. Thank You for making a way in our wilderness. Always. Amen.
Exodus 6:14 These were the heads of their families: The sons of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel were Hanok and Pallu, Hezron and Karmi. These were the clans of Reuben.
