Genesis 12:17 But the Lord inflicted serious diseases on Pharaoh and his household because of Abram’s wife Sarai.
Commentary says, “…God is in the business of growing Abram into a man of great faith, and this requires circumstances where Abram must trust God.” I’ve never thought about growing in faith in those terms, but it’s absolutely true. And I’ll bet Abram grew in faith from this experience, even though he handled things completely inappropriately.
Genesis 12:18 So Pharaoh summoned Abram. “What have you done to me?” he said. “Why didn’t you tell me she was your wife?
The only way to GROW in faith is to LIVE in faith. And sometimes that means trusting in God’s promise and continuing to walk toward the Savior, even if everything feels wrong, even if the only thing you are sure of is that God is still with you because He promised, and He ALWAYS keeps His promises.
Genesis 12:19 Why did you say, ‘She is my sister,’ so that I took her to be my wife? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go!”
Precious Savior, Growing in faith can be difficult and painful, especially when the way involves loss, uncertainty, the unknown. Thank You that even when I am in the lowest valley, You are with me, holding me. Thank You for drawing me closer always. Amen.
Genesis 12:20 Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.
Have a blessed day.
