Exodus 7:10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.
As I am reading today’s scripture, I am reminded of the miracles that Jesus performed and how sometimes people just wanted to see Him to see His miracles, as in they did not believe in Him, in His power, they just wanted to see a show, a performance.
Exodus 7:11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:
Everything that Aaron did, Pharaoh’s wise men, sorcerers, and magicians did. However, there are two key differences: 1. Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs and 2. God had hardened Pharaoh’s heart specifically so that He could show both the Israelites and Pharaoh that He is God.
Exodus 7:12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.
Precious Savior, Forgive us when we get sucked into the show, the spectacle of life. Thank You that You are eternal, not spectacle. Help us to focus on You, even with the noise of this world. Help us, Jesus. Amen.
Exodus 7:13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.
Have a blessed day.
