Drawing us closer…. (devo reflection)

Genesis 41:53-54 The seven years of abundance in Egypt came to an end, and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food.

Joseph had no way of knowing, all those years ago when his brothers sold him into slavery, that God would use Him in such a powerful way—to save Egypt and to save his family.

Genesis 41:55 When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.”

God has a bigger plan than we can see. All the heartaches, all the anxieties, all the chaos is leading us to Him. He doesn’t cause it, but He sees it, and He uses it to draw us closer. I believe it with every fiber of my being.

Genesis 41:56 When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt.

Precious Savior, Life isn’t always sunshine and roses. Sometimes it is gut-wrenchingly difficult. Thank You for using those difficult times to draw us closer, to remake us in Your image. Help us, Jesus. Amen.

Genesis 41:57 And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.

Have a blessed day.
