Proverbs 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
Chapter 10 is where Proverbs dips into its familiar form. While the pithy advice can be useful, I miss the cohesion of a story. For me, there is a huge mindset shift that has to happen for these chapters to have the same impact.
Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.
For instance, I find verse 12 to be incredibly true: hatred leads to conflict. Love leads to reconciliation. What more is there to say? But I know the longer I spend in scripture, the more my Savior will whisper to my heart, so I will continue to ponder and study, trying to draw closer with every word.
Proverbs 10:13 Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of one who has no sense.
Lord, Thank You for this day and this scripture. Thank You for the times when sitting with You and drawing closer seems so effortless. Thank You also for times where I have to read and study (and then read and study some more) to discern Your meaning. Draw me closer. Always. Amen.
Proverbs 10:14 The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.
Have a blessed day.
