Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Three times in the last four verses the word weary is used. I feel that—weariness—deep in my bones at present. But we are given an antidote to weariness in this section of scripture as well—hope in the Lord.
Isaiah 40:30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
There is no way to avoid weariness altogether. That’s part of life. But there is a way to overcome the weariness of this world: “[T]hose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”
Isaiah 40:31a but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles….
Precious Savior, It’s that time of year. I am so tired, so weary. Help me to accept it as a part of life. Help me overcome it by hoping in You alone, by resting in You alone. Thank You for seeing me, for understanding my weariness, for giving me rest. Amen.
Isaiah 40:31b …they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
