Acts 9:36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.
Today’s scripture has me thinking about the impact people make on others and the need to share that impact while people are still with us. I am always telling my students to be sure to let folks who have positively impacted their journey know of their influence. I try not to miss an opportunity to share a kind word with others.
Acts 9:37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.
The past few years I have tried to get better at telling others of their impact through cards and letters. I find that–especially if I am in a bad headspace–if I take the time to write a note to someone, thanking them for whatever it is that’s on my mind and heart, *I* feel better, and it often buoys their spirits, too.
Acts 9:38 Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”
Precious Savior, Thank You for the ability to tell others what they mean to us, the impact they’ve had on us, the things we are thankful for because of their presence. Thank You that just that little bit of mindfulness helps us all in positive ways. Help me to spread kindness and love while I can, never underestimating its value. Amen.
Acts 9:39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
Have a blessed day.
