Exodus 3:1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
Moses went from a male Hebrew baby, destined to die, to the Pharaoh’s daughter’s privileged child, from an Egyptian of rank, to on-the-run because of his actions. Here he is in the desert of Midian, tending his father in law’s sheep, without even a flock of his own.
Exodus 3:2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.
Did he ever question his life choices? Did he ever think, upon seeing the burning bush and hearing God’s voice, “I don’t know what this is, but it cannot be God calling me because I am a mess and there is no way He can use me after everything”?
Exodus 3:3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”
Precious Savior, We are so guilty of discounting our worth because of our choices. But I’ve read the book of Genesis. You have used the broken, the weak, the messy again and again and again, used them in powerful ways. Help us to respond when we hear Your voice. Help us to silence the voices saying we are not enough and there is no way You can use us. You can, You will, You do…IF we allow. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
Exodus 3:4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”
Have a blessed day.
