Mark 16:1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.
I can so empathize with these women. My initial reaction to verse 3 is that they are being proactive, planning. They are trying to solve potential problems they know they will encounter: “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”
Mark 16:2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb
But at the heart of what they are doing is worrying. Worry is something that I am intimately familiar with. I worry about almost everything. It’s ridiculous. And just like Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, my worries usually prove not to ever come to fruition. God’s already taken care of it.
Mark 16:3 and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”
Precious Savior, Thank You for Easter morning, for the empty tomb, for worries that never come to fruition. Help me to trust You. Always. Help me to praise You. Always. Help me to glorify Your name. Always. You are risen. You are risen indeed. Hallelujah. Amen.
Mark 16:4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
Have a blessed day.
