The Spirit helps us in our weakness…. (devo reflection)

Romans 8:26a In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.

I’ll admit that the Spirit is the part of the Trinity that I understand the least, which is ironic, I guess, because I also think the Spirit is Jesus IN me, that little voice that reminds me of His presence, His love, His peace.

Romans 8:26b …We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

The fact that the Spirit knows how to intercede on our behalf even when we don’t know how to pray, what to pray…that fact brings me great comfort. The fact that my prayers of “Jesus. Jesus. Jesus” or “Please. Please. Please” become an articulate plea to my Savior’s ears, that fact brings me great comfort.

Romans 8:27a And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit…

Precious Savior, Thank You that Your Spirit is IN me, always, that I am never without You because of Your Spirit. Thank You that You know my heart, even when I can’t be articulate with my words. Thank You that I don’t have to understand the mysteries of You to draw closer to You. Thank You. Amen.

Romans 8:27b …because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Have a blessed day.
