Rev 21:5 …”Behold, I am making all things new.”
Today is the first day of a brand new year. I find so much hope, promise, and possibility in this day. Like many, I am contemplating what I can do or do differently to be a better person this year. When I think about personal improvement, it doesn’t take long to get bogged down in all the things I could or should change to be a better person. Quickly it starts to feel impossibly overwhelming. I’m pretty sure that’s why so many resolutions are shelved early in January.
Eph 4:24 …put on a new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
Thankfully, our God is in the business of making all things new. And He loves us deeply, exactly as we are. So instead of focusing on all of my many failures and shortcomings, on this first day of this new year, I’m going to take focusing inspiration from a question asked in The Upper Room: How will I live a life that honors Christ this year?
Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness….
Lord, Thank You for this new day, this new year, and this fresh start. Help me to focus on living a life that honors You and not to become debilitated thinking about my many, many shortcomings. Draw me closer. Amen.
Isaiah 65:17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.”
Have a blessed day.
